We’ve loved watching style sensations Kim and Michelle work their magic on the Rosebery renovation in House Rules this week; and seeing some of our favourite pieces take centre stage gave us a dose of the warm and fuzzies (perhaps because we’re a teeny tiny bit biased).
Masters of mixing materials and playing with texture, we loved the way they brought the classic grey Basix 3-seater sofa to life with the use of faux fur and velvet cushions…and made some unexpected decisions in combining materials such as concrete (Replica Eero Saarinen tulip coffee table in concrete), glass (Sean Dix Forte round glass coffee table), timber (Replica George Nelson Platform Bench), and marble (Replica Eero Saarinen tulip oval dining table in marble).
It’s an all-too-common amateur styling error to think we need to play it safe and match our coffee, side and dining tables; or our dining chairs or stick to one fabric for our sofa cushions.
Kim and Michelle’s efforts are a fab example of how much more intriguing, appealing and welcoming a space is when it’s been put together with personality (and under serious TV time pressure!)
The interiors-addicted crew here at Matt Blatt can’t wait to see what they come up with next…and how tough the competition will be this season. Bring it on!
We’re loving seeing some of our Matt Blatt favourites up in lights, check out the gallery for a close-up:
