Thanks Pantone. For giving us our annual dose of colour inspo, for choosing a hue with a name that pretty much spells it out (greenery), and for picking a tree-inspired shade that’s bang-on brilliant for Autumn decorating.
Ok so we admit the exact shade can be a little tricky to track down, but we don’t see why you can’t spread your creative wings somewhat and use ‘greenery’ as the basis for adding some seasonal spruce to your interior with any gorgeous shade of green.
The word from Pantone….
So the powers-that-be at Pantone describe ‘greenery’ as ‘a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew’. They also call it ‘life-affirming’ and ‘symbolic of new beginnings’.
We just reckon it brings the outdoors in, looks more than glam paired with matte black and burninshed brass and is a stand-out to turn a modern monochrome scheme into something that’s made to be seen.
A bold blend of citrus and rainforest in just the right measure, greenery is ‘nature’s neutral’ but looks anything but neutral at home. Lay shades of green on the floor to dip your toe into the trend, or mix magical green and gold (not in an Aussie flag kind of way) to channel glitzy salon-style.
There’s a chair in there…..
If a green sofa isn’t quite your style (although we’re not sure why not!!!) updating your dining or office chairs is an effortless way to make a major impact with minimal fuss. Go all-green around the table or add a couple of new-season nature-toned chairs to your existing batch for a pretty pick-me-up that’s not overpowering.
Green is the colour for…….lazy-day lounging
Snuggle up on a handsome green sofa or armchair witih a super-soft throw and a novel to go and paint the perfect autumn afternoon picture.Green works wonderfully with all tones of timber, so from mid-century to streamlined Scandi, you’ll find this a feature tone to fit into any room. Pair with crisp whites and citrus brights for a warm, tropical look, or mix with dark and moody shades for a cosy cabin vibe.
If changing the sofa or chairs feels a step too far but you fancy a bit of gorgeous greenery to autumn-ify your space, saying it with accessories is a fresh fuss-free fix. Swap flowers for faux foliage, chuck a cute cushion on the sofa, green-ify your walls with on-trend art or use lighting for a luxe take on the look. Whichever way you do it, a dash of forest-inspired fabulous is a must for every fashion-forward interior in 2017.
