After living in EIGHT different homes in the past few years, Benji and Zoe Marshall were sick and tired of living with a random collection of furniture they’d accumulated in various houses – and decided to do a total refresh in their inner western Sydney abode with a focus on creating a ‘liveable’ space which they’d all enjoy coming home to.
“When you’ve moved house as often as we have (eight times) – you end up with a mismatched collection of furniture. With this refresh, we’re trying to create a family-friendly space we’ll all love”Benji
This was Zoe’s first all-in decorating project, and she absolutely loved it, saying “let’s just say….we may have created a monster!”
As for where she found her inspiration, the answer is pretty well ‘everywhere’.
“I find inspiration everywhere – TV reno shows, Pinterest, magazines, my interior decorator, instagram…the lot. The challenge is narrowing all the ideas down into a real-life plan that works for your space, your life.”Zoe
Even so, the Marshalls chose not to strictly subscribe to any one style with their makeover, being guided instead by pieces they loved, their decorator’s advice and furniture and accessories which would work with their lifestyle – including a toddler and two darling dogs.
“We don’t have one particular style like Scandi or mid-century, but I do love certain materials and shades, such as timber, suede, blush and gorgeous greens”Zoe
As for collaborating with Matt Blatt, Benji said the couple are both long-term fans.
“You genuinely feel something when you visit a Matt Blatt showroom – whether that’s surprised, happy, amused – it’s an experience – and that’s not you get in every furniture store”Benji
When they visited our Alexandria showroom, we asked Benji and Zoe to choose their ‘on-trend 10’ products. Check them out…
